Inside the tooth root there are canals with the nerve and blood vessels (the pulp). When decay or a crack reaches the pulp, inflammation develops. Without treatment the infection can pass beyond the root tip and cause swelling or a cyst.

Root canal treatment is the removal of inflamed pulp, cleaning of the canals and filling them. It lets you keep your own tooth instead of extracting it. Afterwards the tooth must be protected with a filling or a crown.

Swelling of the gum or cheek, a fistula

How it works at Dentika

How much does root canal treatment cost?

In the 2026–2027 price list canal filling is shown by the number of canals in the tooth; for complex cases there are separate items (magnification, retreatment). The doctor names the final amount after diagnostics.

Is root canal treatment painful?

Treatment is done under local anaesthesia. Short-lived discomfort after the procedure is possible — it depends on the condition of the tissues; the doctor will advise what to do.

How many visits are needed?

It depends on the tooth and the inflammation: sometimes one visit is enough, sometimes several. The doctor gives the plan after examination.

Can the tooth be left without a crown?

Often a tooth after root canal treatment needs a crown or a large filling because it becomes more brittle. The decision depends on the tooth and the load — the doctor makes it.
